As a wedding photographer I am inspired by many things, my clients and their real life and their real love stories. Fascinated since a young child with 16th and 17th century paintings which capture the true essence of “painting with light”, as well as my mother’s own photography talents and career as a portrait photographer in Cuba, I feel strongly this has helped to mold me and inspire me.
The original inspiration to this editorial is my heritage, Being of Cuban descent and Spanish ancestry, I was inspired to produce a Spanish-styled wedding not only beautiful and romantic; I envisioned something “a little more” bringing in elements of drama, passion and beauty to accompany this gorgeous and rich culture.
Many small details that aren’t so small were brought into the editorial such as surnames from Spain, the bride and other names themselves were names inspired by my grandparents names and throughout the stationery place cards were also created with names of this region including names of my mother, uncles, aunts, friends and more. All names which derive from Spain. Another great inspiration comes from magazines as well as other painters and photographers as these elements play a role however, the location was “key” in shaping and creating the final editorial and from this breathtaking venue recommended by Planner Gina Lett, we produced and planned the photo shoot.
The objective was to showcase and style a wedding that embraced the location, region to showcase the venue, and to invite talented wedding professionals we’ve had the distinct honor of working with these past few years. The team was constructed very carefully and we worked diligently to create the ideal setting for a perfect wedding in the Napa Valley. There are a plethora of images that I love, but for the purposes of submitting our editorial, I selected what are story-telling images. The Christian Brothers Retreat and Conference Center in Napa is a dream-like and historical setting with a chapel and several courtyards to host a romantic wedding in the Spanish setting. I was thrilled to have been involved in the concept creation and production of this editorial, modern meets tradition in a beautiful, modern, but organic way.
Mont La Salle Chapel is available for Catholic and Christian denomination Ceremonies. Garden ceremonies are also available for non-Catholic ceremonies.
