After many years of doing this and that and several years working with the City and County of San Francisco as well as other organizations, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would retire from my position before I was 50 to reinvent myself. I took the plunge in 2012 and although at first I was afraid….I am so glad I made the decision to do what I love the most and what I’m doing now… full time photography as a business.
I recently returned from Puerto Rico and New York City and yes, my cameras came with me. Not only did I bring cameras and all of my personal luggage, but I also brought with a bag full of wedding gowns and garments by an amazingly talented designer, Daniel Laukat of Sacramento, Ca.
When we arrived in San Juan we had a driver waiting for us to take us to Fajardo where a ferry was waiting to take us to our first location, The Island of Culebra. It was lovely to get settled, drive around the island in our golf cart, and relax a bit under the sun and in the Caribbean waters of Flamenco Beach because two days later, we had our shoot.
Unfortunately, our beach shoot turned into an island and “shoot wherever” we could shoot due to the high rainstorm that felt like never ended! For the most part after hair and makeup was complete, we were stuck inside until there was a glimpse of hope (lasted about 5 minutes), but gave us enough time to load up the models I to the car without getting drenched!
Here’s a peek at some of our favorites and although it is not exactly what the production called for, we had a blast and were able to produce some lovely images of Daniel Laukat Couture’s up cycled embroidered gowns, they surely are a treat for any beach bride or for any bride for that matter.
I’d like to thank the beautiful people of this remote yet friendly and beautiful island. We were welcomed everywhere we went and found ourselves running into new found friendships often! I look forward to our return in January!
Thanks for stopping by …. Enjoy the sneak peek!
